3-Dimensional Services’ Alan Peterson, Vice President (far left) and Steve Kelly, Senior Sales Engineer (far right) accepted the 2003 Superior Quality Award from General Motors Powertrain representatives Randi Davis (second from left) and Frances Holmes (second from right). It was the second consecutive year the firm was honored.

For the second year in a row, 3-Dimensional Services of Rochester Hills, Michigan and specialists in the design, engineering and building of rapid prototype parts, has been named as a recipient of the Superior Quality Award for 2003 presented by the Powertrain Division of General Motors. The award recognizes those supplier companies demonstrating outstanding performance in meeting and conforming to GM standards. These standards include satisfying delivery and quality requirements over the past 12 months without a nonconformance.

The Powertrain Division has presented the Superior Quality Award to its top suppliers since 1999. In 2003 there were over 400 suppliers in contention for the award. Of those, just 10 were so honored while 3-Dimensional Services was one of only three repeat winners to win the award.

The Superior Quality Award, according to Randi Davis, a Superior Quality Analyst for GM Powertrain, is presented to the select few every year who earn their position. “The award was established to acknowledge the efforts of the best,” Ms. Davis said.

During the presentation ceremony honoring the company, 3-Dimensional Services’ Vice President, Alan Peterson, praised the company’s employees. “The Superior Quality Award is presented to our organization...an organization of people whose skill, perseverance and dedication to their work and to quality could only make this possible. We are proud of the team contribution, and just as proud of our service to GM Powertrain.”

3-Dimensional Services—along with two subsidiary companies, Urgent Design & Manufacturing and Urgent Plastic Services—provide rapid prototyping (completion of prototype parts up to 70% faster than traditional prototype technologies) for virtually all manufacturing disciplines, including machining, mold and injection molding of plastic prototype parts, cast, stamped and formed fabrications, hydroforming, high definition stamping (intricate shapes, maximum elongation) of super alloys, and full assembly operations.
