3-Dimensional Services To Acquire New Laser System...#22 In Its Arsenal

February 14, 2008

The 3-Dimensional Services Group, Rochester Hills, MI,-based rapid prototyping firm, has announced its agreement with NTC America—Laser Group (Novi, MI) to acquire the company's 20th laser unit from NTC and its 23rd laser processing system overall. The newest laser, to be delivered in March, 2008, is the NTC model TLV-714 3-axis, CO2 laser cutting system featuring a 5.0kW laser and a work envelope of 4,300 x 2,200 x 300mm (169" x 86" x 12")—making this unit the largest laser system to join the firm’s already extensive fabricating resources.

According to Alan Peterson, vice-president of 3-Dimensional Services, the new system expands the firm's capacity to meet growing application needs. "With the considerable power and huge work envelope of this new laser," Peterson says, "we've positioned ourselves to better handle thicker materials and larger plate sizes without compromising the speed, accuracy and flexibility customer's demand in the fast paced environment of prototype build."

The 3-Dimensional Services Group, consisting of 3-Dimensional Services, Urgent Plastic Services, and Urgent Design & Manufacturing, provides rapid prototyping services that encompass virtually all processes, including injection molding and casting, stamping, machining, robotic and manual welding, waterjet, hydroforming, tube bending, vehicle chassis fabrication, vibration welding, casting and pattern fabrication, modeling, and assembly—in addition to its laser processing.
