3-Dimensional Services Joins "Automation Alley" Trade Mission to Brazil
As an integral step in its globalization efforts, the 3-Dimensional Services Group, a Rochester Hills prototyping and low-volume production firm, just completed participation in the latest trade and corporate summit sponsored by Southeast Michigan's "Automation Alley" consortium of government officials, business leaders and area academia.
3-Dimensional Services was one of ten companies to participate. The 2008 trade mission traveled October 18-25, 2008 to Brazil—Latin America's largest commercial market and ranked among the world's top 10 economies-and an emerging major exporter of manufactured products including steel, aircraft, and automobiles along with alternative energy sources, biotechnology and medical devices. The cities visited were San Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
Representing 3-Dimensional Services at the week-long talks was company vice president Alan Peterson, who expressed his firm's appreciation for the trade opportunity. "Since 1997, Automation Alley has helped small, medium and large size firms in our region," Peterson says, "to promote the area's skilled talent and cutting-edge businesses. In this day of global competition and instantaneous communications, we need to find customers around the world, not just around the corner...these trade missions give us a distinct advantage."
Today, Automation Alley encompasses the counties of Genesee, Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, St. Clair, Washtenaw, and Wayne, as well as the City of Detroit, representing more than 311,000 technology workers and 7,300 high-tech businesses. Past trade conferences have traveled to Mexico, China, Germany, India, Central and Eastern Europe and to date have garnered more than $130 million in signed contracts for participants. The 3-Dimensional Services Group, provides prototyping and low-volume production services to domestic and international clients. The group consists of four companies-3-Dimensional Services, Urgent Plastic Services, Urgent Design & Manufacturing and 3-Dimensional Services-Europe who have earned a reputation for building functional prototype parts and production parts 50 to 70% faster than conventional prototype shops.
